Buying a New Car? Find the Cleanest, Most Efficient One at DriveClean.ca.gov
Today, there is such a great variety of vehicle makes and models that pollute less and are more efficient. Even if you’re not considering a hybrid, electric or other advanced technology vehicle, you can still make a huge difference by comparing pollution levels between your favorite vehicles and weighing that in your purchase decision. Since motor vehicles cause more than half of the smog forming pollutants and nearly 40% of the greenhouse gas emissions in California, car choice really does matter.

An easy new tool for comparing a vehicle’s environmental impact is right on the window of every new car sold in California – the Environmental Performance (EP) Label. The EP Label provides a 1-10 scoring system for global warming and smog emissions, with the highest scores being the cleanest vehicles, and the average vehicle scoring a 5. At DriveClean.ca.gov you can compare scores ahead of time, and even search for incentives in your area that may save you money. DriveClean.ca.gov provides environmental performance scores for every vehicle in California - dating all the way back to the 2000 model year. You can quickly identify the cleanest vehicle from those you're considering, or just for fun find out if your car pollutes more than your neighbor's.

Visit DriveClean.ca.gov the next time you’re in the market for a new car, and become a friend of DriveClean on Facebook to get updates on the newest clean cars coming to market – including new hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric, and alternative fuel vehicles.
