Since motor vehicles cause more than half of the smog forming pollutants and nearly 40% of the greenhouse gas emissions in California, car choice really does matter.

An easy new tool for comparing a vehicle’s environmental impact is right on the window of every new car sold in California – the Environmental Performance (EP) Label. The EP Label provides a 1-10 scoring system for global warming and smog emissions, with the highest scores being the cleanest vehicles, and the average vehicle scoring a 5. Environmental Performance Label

Option 3: Car buyers have a new tool to find the cleanest, most efficient cars on the market. The new Environmental Performance Label is posted on the window of every new vehicle in California and gives each car two scores on a scale of 1-10 (10 is the cleanest), a Global Warming Score and a Smog Score. Cars with higher Global Warming Scores tend to burn less fuel, saving money at the pump. Vehicles with higher Smog Scores contribute less to that nasty smog.
