Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District - Old Car Buyback and Scrap Program
Cars and trucks are a major source of smog pollution in Santa Barbara County, and older vehicles cause much more air pollution than newer ones. The Old Car Buy Back program is designed to take older vehicles off the road. A licensed auto dismantler will permanently destroy (i.e. crush) cars and trucks voluntarily retired under this program.

Charging Incentives
Southern California Edison (SCE) - Charge Smart - SoCal
SCE, in partnership with WeaveGrid, offers the Charge Smart - SoCal program to help EV drivers access valuable benefits, save money and simplify their charging experience. Participants receive a $50 sign-up reward and save up to $600 in annual charging costs. Program eligibility is limited to the "Gateway Cities" zip codes of SCE's territory. The Consumer Assistance Program's (CAP) vehicle retirement option offers eligible consumers an incentive to retire their operational vehicle. Vehicle owners may receive $1,350 to retire their vehicle at a BAR-contracted dismantler. To determine your eligibility and incentive amount, start the application process on the program website.
