Participants who are approved for DCAP incentives can choose one (1) of two (2) charging incentives:

$2,000 towards the purchase and installation of level 2 home charging equipment.*

A $2,000 prepaid charge card to pay for public charging.

*We’ve partnered with GRID Alternatives to offer professional home charger installations. Depending on your location and the condition of your electrical panel, GRID Alternatives may have a partner electrician who can install your EV charger.

Driving Clean Assistance Program (DCAP)

The Driving Assistance Program provides grants and affordable financing to help low-income Californians purchase a new or used battery electric, plug-in hybrid or fuel-cell electric vehicle. DCAP offers two pathways to getting into your new clean air vehicle- Clean Cars for All (a scrap and replace program) or Financing Assistance (no scrapping required). Both pathways offer down-payment assistance in the form of upfront grants that are paid directly to the dealerships and do not need to be paid back. Qualified applicants may be eligible for grants up to $12,000 through Clean Cars for All or $7,500 through Financing Assistance. Consumer Assistance Program - Vehicle Retirement (Income Qualified)

The Consumer Assistance Program's (CAP) vehicle retirement option offers eligible consumers an incentive to retire their operational vehicle. Consumers meeting the income eligibility requirement may receive up to $2,000 for their retired vehicle. All other vehicle owners may receive $1,350 to retire their vehicle at a BAR-contracted dismantler. To determine your eligibility and incentive amount, start the application process on the program website.
To be eligible for the $2,000 incentive, your gross household income must be less than or equal to 225% of the federal poverty level and your vehicle must fail its most recent Smog Check inspection.
